Here in Spain at the mid eighties, the only Enterprise keyboard layout offered by the sellers was English, even when the German keyboard layout is almost the same as the Spanish one.
Probably this happened because Proeinsa was the direct distributor from the UK matrix of the Enterprise Computers Ltd. company, not from the German subsidiary.
To Hungary arrived a higher percentage of German Enterprises compared to the number of British ones, and today the bulk of the offered Enterprises on Ebay or Vatera(Hungarian Ebay-like web page), have German keyboard layout.
I have discovered that some of my new colleagues in Spain are owners of German Enterprises. Also, soon I will own one myself.
The ESP.rom translation, adapted long ago from the HUN.rom, don't apply to German computers only because the Spanish keys where "weird-adapted" by me to the UK layout my old EP has.
I have fixed it for German models, but as it can't be named ESP.rom because there are a huge "lot" of EPs that use that Rom, I have named the fixed one as ESB,rom(the B is from BRD).
It has some differences with the German BRD.rom. Why a German Enterprise must have an optional UK layout where the principal keys are on the wrong place?
Then, for the UK layout I have used the German one, but changing the German only keys by their British counterpart. Also the # character of the German has been substituted by the @ character of the British.
And on the ESP layout I have also used the German one, but with the tilde and diaeresis vocals on secondary keys near the Enter key. The Ñ character, very important on the Spanish language, has been put on its deserved place at the Spanish layout, just at the right to the L character. I have left the Pound(£) symbol on Shift+3 like in the original UK layout, because I am used to it, and because I don't use the "·" character on the PCs. May be an Euro (€) symbol could have been better, but then we also would think on the effects caused by Y2K on our loved computers...
Of course I am open to reasonable suggestions not involving to start again the Tetris game with the keyboard keys....
