Title: Enterprise 64 Key/keyboard replacement
Post by: gg3390 on 2024.January.06. 17:47:24
Hello,
Waited a while to get my hands on an Enterprise 64 (which I had in my youth). Thankfully, I have not gotten one, and one composite modification later it is up and running.
I do have to replace the keyboard membrane also, and awaiting a replacement one to fix that.

However, I only noticed that my keyboard seems to have some cryllic or arabic symbols on the keytops also - I do not remember thses being on my original Enterprise.

Does anybody have replacement UK QUERTY keytops?
I realise this might be a long shot, but no harm I hope in checking.

Thanks in advance,
Ger

Welcome here!
In this topic (https://enterpriseforever.com/manyag-alkatreszek-gyartasa/altalanos-discussion/msg82565/#msg82565) you will see, a lot of plastic pieces have been made. I don't remember exactly but maybe some keys were also manufactured.
You are right, original Enterprises do not have Arabic or Cyrillic symbols on the buttons.

Can you make photo of your keyboard?

Thanks for the comments and welcome.
Photos attached.

Please also forgive me if I have misrepresented the symbols I'm questioning - I'm not sure what they are!

I've converted the images to jpeg.

Yes, it is an Arabic machine. Did you buy it from Egypt? In the last few years lots of unsold boxed machines were found in Egypt and went to Ebay.

I wouldn't change the keycaps.
They have a standard English layout, and the Arabic characters are not so noticeable as to be confusing.

Zozo, by the way, I saw at one of the online auctions an EP with a small number of Cyrillic characters.
This lot was later removed from sale and therefore I don’t know anything more about it.

No - I bought it in the UK, and it was sold as a UK machine. It wasn’t apparent from the pics as I bought it that the keys were how they were.
Indeed, it was a while later before I actually noticed them myself.

Indeed, it’s not that noticeable, but if it were possible to get a genuine UK key set, I’d think I’d do it.
Thanks
