Display above status line
« on: 2023.December.04. 14:03:46 »
Yesterday I tried to setup my sony tinitron TV to have better picture shape.
I remember from my childhood, that the status line of the is-basic was always on the very top of the screen. After i was redy with the adjusment, I loaded batman, and I realized, that as I start the first room, the visible pixel scanlines is outside of the top of my screen. So I changed the shape of the screen to see the upper invisible lines. After reset, I have seen, that the status line of the Is-Basic is now about 2-3 row lower.

So how come, that Batman game can place objects higher than the status line?

In my opinion, EXOS by default doesn't use all possible screen area to make the status line visible on any TV screen.

Below is a picture that uses the entire possible screen area (I think so) and a picture with the status line.

What I do not understand, how is that possible, to put something higher than the status line?
The Status line is the first row in the Line Parameter Table. There is no padding or anything before the first line, because Status lie starts with the E900 Adress.
The last lines in the LPT are Vertical Sync, and reload....

I checked now the the Book with Title "Gepi kódú Programozás" (Machine Code Programming), and now I undertand (maybe).
There is a LPT line between the Vertical Sync and Reload. See the attachment.
