Geco,

Thanks for converting those - managed to waste several hours playing Donkey Kong !!

Did they ever do a version of a game called Elite for the Amstrad CPC? I know they did a Spectrum version (and several other versions as well) - the BBC version was one of the greatest games ever if your looking for something else to convert !!

Cheers

Tricky

P.s. Did Elite ever make it to Hungary?

Do you mean this Elite?

This is the CPC version of Elite.

The Enterprise version is converted from Spectrum.

Thanks Geco - not that bothered about the filled in planets - more the frame rate - one of the reasons I bought a 2nd processor for my bbc was to play Elite a bit faster  :)

Surprised people havent played it much over there - here its considered one of the greatest games of all time.

Cheers

IstvanV started a project for converting PC images to Enterprise format, using the maximal possibilities of the Nick chip!
There is some examples:

IstvanV has continued his project. Here is the image converter program, from PC to EP: EPimgconv
In this topic you can find some converted pictures and links to converted pictures.

EPimgconv can be used under DOS prompt. (First unpack files by WinZip.)
An example for using it:
Code: [Select]
epimgconv foo.jpg foo.comVideo mode can be selected by -mode parameter (default is 2).
-raw 1 parameter enables to save in raw format, instead of the default .com application format.
-size W H enables to set picture size in characters.
As default, Epimgconv converts images into the largest possible size, but by using -scale X Y and -offset X Y parameters  the image can be enlarged and offset.
JPG, BMP, PNG, GIF and XPM file formats are supported.

(Maybe a more detailed guide will be available soon, as for video modes.)

SOUND SOURCE 2,STYLE 128,PITCH 25.2,SYNC 2

New version, it is also run on Enterprise 64 :-)
Added new function, the STOP key will exit from the program. It is important on 64K machines, because can't be exited via the warm restart rutine (the system segment temporary overwrited while the game runnig, but it is restored if you press the STOP key).

Here you can find a more detailed guide for this PC -> Enterprise image converter program. If you don't understand any part of the text or find grammatical errors in it feel free to tell me.
Anyway, I am unsure if the expression "normal vertical resolution" exists. How is it said in English? I mean the contrary of "interlace mode". Sometimes I left in the text the Hungarian expression "normál függõleges felbontás".

Videoton TV Computer emulator has been finished, it is the "predecessor" of Enterprise, and made in Hungary.
If you find any bug, do not hesitate. :)

We already wrote about the EPimgconv, a PC util that makes it possible to convert PC pictures into Enterprise format. In the beginning it only converted into .com (application) format which means that the converted picture can be viewed by running that application on the Enterprise.
EPimgconv enables to save in raw format as well, but there wasn't any Enterprise software to view these raw format pictures. Recently Zozosoft began to write a viewer software for the Enterprise that makes it possible to view the raw format picures (IVIEW). It's still in beta version but is well usable. You can download it here, in the same package as EPimgconv.

IVIEW is easy to use: Being IVIEW in the memory, you can simply load a raw format picture (load or start command). Having viewed the picture you can restart the machine by pressing any key.
Using IVIEW in EXT format (:IVIEW) Hsoft's :FILE extension is also needed. (You can find :FILE extension in Zozotools.) This way you can browse the pictures, load the selected picture and return to browse. Creating an IVIEW.INI file can be also useful because it can contain the filenames of the pictures and IVIEW shows them as a slideshow. IVIEW.INI must be a simple text file which can be created this way:
PC:
Code: [Select]
DIR /B >IVIEW.INIEnterprise in WP:
Code: [Select]
DIR /Wthen delete the unnecessary lines and save it by pressing F3.
