I tryed to load the MP3 files, but not work :-(

I think because the files only in 128 kbps format. Previously I writed 320 kbps needed.
Do you have the original wav files? Can you save in 320 kbps format?

Demonstrating the signal distortion:
Original Enterprise tape sound wave form:

What about the OGG? I read it provides better quality than MP3.

I have a DIgital Compact Cassette (DDC) Deck that might be better as I can take the
signal optically into my PC..... ;-)

I will have a look at what I have and then try again.....

Isn't there any audio format which is specialised for square wave?
Is for ex. wma format inconvenient to this purpose?

Zozosoft's waveform pictures are interesting. What about overdriving the 128kbps MP3 wave to gain square wave? I think square waves can be overdriven and the pitch doesn't change...

I've tried to do that, but unfortunately it didn't succeed, at least it's not this simple. But on the other hand, based on the original specifications of the Enterprise tape format , it should be possible to use 8 kHz, 8-bit mono WAV files, which equals to 64 kbps uncompressed data rate. I do not dare to say that it'll work for sure (I cannot try it, due to lack of an Enterprise :-( ).

It should work, few years ago I made a backup copy from all my tapes, the programs were loaded into BAM-Copy, then saved into PC in 8kHz 8-bit mono Wav format.
I could successfully load them into EP.

Can they be compressed? Maybe into mp3 not... Maybe the flac lossless codec can be used...

It's interesting that the EP recognised Geco's archieve, because some time I recorded EP's digi music into maybe 11Khz format wav file and into 44Khz too, but the 44KHz had a better quality, though EP produced only 8KHz music... Interesting...

I think 16 bit wav records of EP tape signal are more secure than 8 bit ones... At least, I think...

I do not know,if it helps but...in Spectrum I just convert the .wav to 160kbps,mono .mp3 and it loads perfectly

I converting .WAVes to mp3 (250 kbps) - it works.
I successfully loading games.

(TAPE speed was normal)
