New E128 owner
« on: 2014.September.16. 23:46:30 »
Hello there! My name is Juan and I just acquired an Enterprise 128 from Hungary on eBay!

Soon I will have to look after a RGB adapter, because I see the only options are RGB and RF TV. Which is German PAL and won't work on Brazilian TVs. I do have a monitor that accepts 50HZ + 15 KHz RGB signals. I took a quick look at the site and I saw topics (in Hungarian) talking about just such an adapter.

The machine is BEAUTIFUL and looks new!

I see it has a German QWERTZ keyboard. Was it the normal case for computers sold in Hungary to have German keyboards?

Hello.

Yes, we talk about the display solutions much. We would like to connect EP to modern monitors, too.
But we see now, the perfect solutions can only be the high quality 15 KHz analog monitors.

We could not find a cheap and good quality solution, yet.

Yes, many of the keyboards of the enterprises are german ones. But I do not know the percentage distribution.

You can change the keyboard layout to english like this:

:UK

This will change it back to german:

:BRD

...and now I know the reason for the subforum names here.

As you see, I'm a total newbie about the Enterprise. It is an architecture I always wanted to know more about.

Is there a card storage solution similar to the MyIDE, SD2IEC, divIDE or SuperIDE?

Officially there are only floppy controller cards, with a WD floppy controller chip in their heart.

But around those cards, they built a software functionality (called EXDOS) which can communicate the floppy controller cards, and above that, this EXDOS can handle FAT12 filesystem (standard PC floppy filesystem from that ages), and has a command interpreter (a shell like thingy) focused on the high level file functionality (like copy, rename, move, ramdisk, etc.).
This EXDOS implemented on the top of the EXOS. EXOS is the OS of the EP.

And this EXDOS is extendable. It has a layer, what can be implemented by hardware devices, and from that point such devices can be EXDOS devices, too. Every EXDOS functionality will work on those hardwares, too.

Using this layer, there is an IDE controller card created by Zozosoft, and into that IDE card you can connect IDE devices, like a HDD, or an IDE to CF converter, or what you can convert from IDE.

There is a cartridge SD solution, what works on the same EXDOS extension layer:

And there is an under construction EXPANSION port device (the right side of the EP) combined with RAM and ROM extension, too:

Whoa! I will most definitely buy one of those when they're ready. The one with RAM and ROM expansions looks especially fun!

Wellcome here!

I think about 2/3 of the EP128 machines are German. This is have a extra 16K ROM for the language expansion. Later this ROM modified for other languages: Hungarian, Spanish...

Z80System! You linked in Hungarian forum a Spanish webshop where Scart cable sold. Please also link it here. (Now I'm on mobile phone, I can not link it.)

I have an old EP magazine that has an article on how to build your own SCART cable if you're interested (though you probably already have it).
