Enterprise in the ex-Soviet countries
« on: 2008.July.07. 14:21:11 »
Hello Jimmy, welcome in our forum!
I see you are from Ukraine, it is great! We long time waited for anyone from the ex-Soviet Union!

What do you know about the Enterprise story in the SU?

We know from a interview with the director of the Hungarian Enterprise Distribution, about 3000 machines sold in the SU. Mostly used as school computer. And planed to assembly Enterprise machines in SU, but I think it is never realized.

Hello, all,
I didn't expect that ENTERPRISE can be so popular today - it's a wondering :)
My one is from Hungary - we lived in BudaPest some years, when I was at school :) With the help of some mates we've gave strong concurrency to Commodores guys
That years ENTERPRISEs enters SU with the help of people, who visit Hungary. Among advantages (low price, excellent technical features) there was one disadvantage - a little number of software products. Therefore, a lot of computers went to second-hand stores in a complete with some games tapes. By the way, that times, second-hands was the only way to buy E in SU.
In the beginning of 90th, there was an enthusiastic group in "Machinery to Youth" (an magazine, which published in Moscow), which tries to give a popularity to E. They stay as importer for E, peripherals, software and documentation. Also, they print articles with dumps of small programs they wrote, EXOS & IS-BASIC documentation & examples of how to use it, make lotteries & more. I saw near 12 (one year subscription) number of magazines, in which there were some pages dedicated to E. But there was more.
Maybe that guys bought all ware from H. E. D. ? But as far as I remember, it was German' supplier.
That years I've hear rumors 'bout E in school, but I've never known was that truth. There were neither Google, nor internet
Later, after 2000, I've tried to email sometimes to magazine's editorials, to find out where all that was, but haven't any responses :( Their modern site doesn't contain anything related to E.

These are released in Russian? Do you have any of these?

Now I readed again the mentoined Hungarian interview, it is talking about schools in Kazakhstan.

When I searched the internet about the Enterprise I found some Russian forums where talking about the Enterprise 128. But I not understood what :(

No, it seems to be ordinal English or German (with two langs error messages) computers. Later, that guys burned Cyrillic fonts in EXOS ROM (chars 128-159, capital and small letters, but only that, which are different in glypth from latin). I haven't such computer, however I've tried to win it in their lottery, but I've responded too late.

They're lucky! Meanwhile, the most popular enthusiastic computer in ex-SU was Spectrum. There are many radio and computer amateurs, who has constructed Speccies by their hands. Many small enterprises developed their own PCB versions and some kind of extensions. Guess, how many of them know, what means "ENTERPRISE" ?  :)

You can post me the links to that messages, and I will translate them in-brief. However, only 1-to-1000 targets from google results by "E..." leads to some E-related. I's a very-very rare now  :) At now, google filled with Sun Enterprise Servers, and others...

Sometime later, I would find all numbers from mentioned magazine, and would know (may be) where all that stuff has comes...

There is a title "Machinery to Youth" at the top, and "Win the chase with the five-headed Questionnaire, and the ENTERPRISE world will be opened to You (competition terms on p. 1)".

Hi! I'm Enterprise 128 owner from Russia.
This is my first computer and i'm very glad to read this forum :)
I received EP on a 8 year bithday in 1988 from father. During the first year i got around 50 games for EP from Father's friend. It was imposibble to find any other sources of hardware or software in my region for EP so i moved to more popular ZX-Spectrum in 1993. Horever i still love EP.
