About the translation. Maybe it's a good idea that I open a new post and that I just posts  some chapters now and then.. so in the end we have everything in English.
New topic opened :-)

Quote
I have to say, that it seems that all small magazines from a small club. So I don't know if it make sense to translate all the articles or just the once that are Enterprise related.
If possible want to all in English
Also will be interesting the life in Enterprise Club at other country, and comparing with our experience.

In front of you lies the February number of the DEUG (Dutch enterprise users Group) from 1987. It is the second number that the new editor did create for you guys. There were a lot of nice responses on the first magazine! We are very happy with that but we would like to see responses in the form of articles. Of course writing articles is a task that cost a lot of time, the editor also has trouble with it  especially to write something sensible and you don't want to write something that everyone already knows. What you see as ' logical ' or ' normal ' is for others very complex. The different is that someone is an expert and others not. But do not hesitate to send any questions, though they seem unimportant, it's better to share. We have enough EXPERTS to answer them. In the section 'ENTER and RETURN' you can see the incoming questions.
There are a lot of Enterprise users that still have to lean BASIC. You cannot say to those people, simply “Hey! you can write a driver for that just in GEN” This was something I heard someone saying on an Enterprise User Day. So you cannot say that PEEK is simple for beginners. Words like, Allocate, bugs, ram segments, system- extensions and ESCAPE-sequences are not easy to understand for beginners. So what I want to say in this context is: Please if you send some article to me be aware that you write it so that it makes sense for everyone. Don’t be afraid to write something. You can simple write something about your Enterprise. Tell us what you are doing with your machine. What you like or dislike.  Those personal stories can be find in the section ‘My Enterprise’
It’s also nice if your send drawings or nice pictures that are Enterprise related. If it is very nice we can decide to publish it on the front- cover.
You can still send the articles for the upcoming number of APRIL or give those to me at the user day on 14 March 1987. Please, when you send something to me do it on a TAPE or a Floppy. It helps us to have it in a digital format and besides that we don’t like to type listings in manually. Beside that Computers are invented for that!

ENTER AND RETURN

This is the first time we present the category “Questions and Answers” in ENTERFACE. In this section we will ask our readers to help other readers. If we know the answer we will of course reply directly.

QUESTION:
I have IS-DOS but I would like to have CP/M. Where can I get it ?
ANSWER:
IS-DOS is a sub- version from CP/M. In fact it is CP/M 80 version 2.2. The developers from IS (Intelligent Software) created their own version, with more options/possibilities and more user friendly. The command structure and command language looks a bit like IBM but they are using subroutines from CP/M. The method used to save something to disc is the same compare to the IBM. This is also the reason we can read IBM discs without problems. It is possible to read a text file or ASCII-listing without conversion on the Enterprise. But of course programs are no exchangeable.

QUESTION:
When I buy a memory expansion can I use this to open more graphical screens ? For example with interlace?
ANSWER:
If you own a 64k machine you have improvements. But if you have 128k or more than it is not usable as video memory. The reason for this is that the video-chip, called  ‘NICK’ can’t reserve more than 64k at once.

QUESTION:
I’m looking already for several months for a MIDI-INTERFACE for the ENTERPRISE. Is there someone that can create one for me ? I want to create software for it.
ANSWER:
It is not possible to connect a MIDI interface directly to the ENTERPRISE. The reason is that MIDI works on 31,25 kBAUD. This is not available on the ENTERPISE computer. However maybe it is possible to solve this in software. We found some useful information in magazine ‘ELEKTUUR’ (January 1986 page 60) here you can found also all codes for the DX7 synthesizer.

Edoz, could you please write your posts both in English and in Dutch? Some sentences in Dutch wouldn't disturb anybody here, I think. I would be interested in reading them in both languages.
