Converting Games to WAV ?
« on: 2013.November.01. 17:47:40 »
I have just bought my First Enterprise 128 which is on its way, but sadly with no games.

I found some TAP files with games at: http://ep.homeserver.hu/EPTEHome/tapefiles.html

Is there any way to convert these to WAV files so I can use these to load games from a PC or WAV File Player?

MrPrise wrote utility called: TAPir
With these you can play as sound or save as wav the program files (you can download programs from ep128.hu).
TAPir with neccessary DLLs

- Extract the downloaded program from the archive.
- in TAPir use "add file" for adding program files
- at games the right order: .COM .SCR .PRG If you have any problem with a specify program just ask it.
- after files added then you can save as WAV, save as .TAP, or play directly

Thank you for your help.

Does this mean the games at http://www.ep128.hu/Ep_Games/Games_AB_eng.htm are also Tape Games that can be transferred to WAV?

I thought they were Disk Versions, as normally Game Rips for other systems come in one file, rather than lots of separate files.

Also how do you know what order is the right order? For example http://www.ep128.hu/Ep_Games/Prg/Academy.rar has a file with no extension, a COM file and five .AMY files. And a game like http://www.ep128.hu/Ep_Games/Prg/Alien_Attack.rar has loads of files with different extensions. Is there a set standard as to what order they go in?

Hopefully the Enterprise will not be as fussy as my Matra Alice at loading games - she is a right bitch and just works when she wants to!

I think it means that. A game in enterprise loading from the "default device" usually. When you have a disk device, that will be the default, when you have a tape device, that will be de default.

Or what device you choose.

Disk and tape versions of the games usually exactly the same, because of the above.

Sometimes, when files of a game had the same file name, then we had to make a different version for disk, where the file names was different. Because disks can store files with different names only.

Probably there is no strict rule of the order.

Games encapsulate the proper order, nothing else as far as I know.

So, you have to try an order, and when you see in the status line a different name in order, you have to change the order of files in the wav.

Usually this is the order.

game.com
game.scr
game.other0
game.other1
...

In disk, the game finds the files with the names. In tape ... no exact rule I think.

Because the Enterprise uses standard FAT12 floppy disks so it is not needed to create full disk images just enough to copy files. And disk and tape files are the same.

For the Academy the right order:
ACADEMY.COM
ACADEMY
LEVEL001.AMY
LEVEL002.AMY
LEVEL003.AMY
LEVEL004.AMY
LEVEL005.AMY

Alien Attack on of the difficult programs  (CPC emulation built in).
I created tool for these, OPEN.LUA script for the ep128emu which are list the opened filenames in the debugger.
At the Alien Attack:
Channel is opened with name 'alienat.com'
Channel is opened with name 'OS664.ROM'
Channel is opened with name 'ALIENAT.PRG'
Channel is opened with name 'ALIENAT.SYM'
Channel is opened with name 'alienhi'
