Title: 3D printed accesories for EP
Post by: RSCluster on 2018.July.26. 15:53:21
Hi,

I designed some cases for the EP, feel free to print them:

EXDOS card case: ep128exdos_v010.zip (http://www.redplanet.hu/ep/ep128exdos_v010.zip)

EnterMice v1 case: ep128entermicev1_v018.zip (http://www.redplanet.hu/ep/ep128entermicev1_v018.zip)

EnterMice v2 case: ep128entermicev2_v018.zip (http://www.redplanet.hu/ep/ep128entermicev2_v018.zip)

Composite VGA case: ep128video_v008.zip (http://www.redplanet.hu/ep/ep128video_v008.zip)

If there is any need for additional design let me know.

Regards,
Peter

Nice work!

Can you put a picture of the VGA case?

Great! Thank you very much!

What program can you recommend for adjusting the design?

I have to small suggestions for adjustments/improvements:

2) on the latest version of EnterMice the pins for setting the different functions are moved to the side facing the computer. I am more or less sure that the placement is exactly the same but just on the other side of the PCB. Maybe @pear can give the exact details.

3) is the case for the floppy controller designed for the new compact version 2? If so the new version 2 has a small powerswitch to turn power on and off. It would be great with a hole for that. I can send you the exact measurements for the swith over the weekend.

Yes, only on the first batches of the EnterMice the switches are on the components side. Also, the two holes for the large capacitors are not used on some units, because Pear has used indistinctly low or large profile components on the mounting. There are other modifications added on the last design, like the reset switch or the little connectors on the serial port on some units.

The same on the EXDOS case design.

I think it is better to have a unique design without holes for general purpose, and then trim the case at hand for the particular unit.

Yes, you are right, I attached a wrong picture to the model because the design already exists for both model and I picked the other one :)
Now it's corrected, uploaded both with pics.
Thanks for the feedback!

The new bus extension could also have a house :)

It is a good idea... But RSCluster will need precise measures, or better, a physical card. The PCB will need some form of feet on the right side to raise it horizontal.

Another three slots wagon card without additional buffers is planned. One or two wagons cards may be connected at the rear of the bus expander(machine), like a train. It will have exactly the same dimensions, with all the connectors on the same place, so the case will fit.

Yes, I'll get the devices from somewhere.

I have the first version with no holes.

If the case fits tight then the screws aren't so necessary. I put the holes just in case of using standard boxes, not for these luxury tailored cases...

Oh, sorry... I better mean: The case will need some form of feet on the right side to raise the PCB horizontal.

I can confirm that the cases work.

The EnterMice fits nicely together. Maybe it needs a screw but that is that!

The floppy controller is a bit more tricky when you - as I - power the machine through the controller and have a switch to turn the computer on/off. Furthermore you should be aware the the screws that puts the controlle-case together has to be very think to fit through the pcb.

But I am up and running and it looks quite nice:

Now I only need som EP stickers ...

Yes, very good looking.

Have you painted the cases?

Yes, very good looking.

Have you painted the cases?

They are printet with black plastic and it matches quite fine :-)
