Title: PC keyboard for Enterprise
Post by: Zozosoft on 2007.June.20. 01:10:53
EP128 - great setup - do you have any info (in English im afraid :( ) on how to use a PC keyboard with an Enterprise?
The EP128's PC keyboard is a rewired. Needed one keyboard with microswitches (I think this is a old type, current PC keyboard use keyboard membrane), drop out all electronics from the keyboard, only keep the microswitches. And rewire the switches using the Enterprise keyboard map.
And needed to build connection between the EP and the keyboard, 10+8 pin needed.

Another way: prototype PS/2 interface (http://ep.homeserver.hu/Hardware/Taszt/taszt.htm)
Needed to build in a microcontroller chip to EP, which are translating the PC keyboard signals for the Enterprise.
But some problems with this project :-( sometimes the flash memory of the controller chip randomly damaged :-(
Because this problem this project currently halted.

Might look at using a PC keyboard as the connector from the membrane to the motherboard has been getting shorter every year as it loses its connectivity. I either need to look at soldering (or extending) the tracks from the existing membrane or getting a replacement membrane (which looks pretty much impossible !).

If anyone has any suggestions - please let me know !!
