Sorry for intruding...

I like printed listings. I read them much better when bind than on a screen.

And the Enterprise doesn't print  bad. My printer was a "cheap" C.ITOH Riteman F+ that followed the ESC/P Epson standard. I explored all the options it offered and found the Spanish character set. Then I draw my language symbols on the corresponding keys, and  made some graphics characters for them with a Basic program.

I don't remember how but I even was able to send ESC/P sequences from within the Word Processor. Bold, cursive, underline, etc

It served me very well that days printing bills for my father. I even wrote a Basic program and partially machine code to dump the EP  screen. Also in interlaced mode... A pity that I've lost it ...

I remember whole afternoons printing Hi-Res screens with drawings of the Mandelbrot set... I still have that printings, but no more that printer.

Now as you know I have my own Spanish Rom.... and a new Epson LQ300+ II printer that can do the same but better, with USB and Parallel connection.

:) No problem at all.

Maybe, but it always means (in my opinion, I mean!) wasting precious paper/money and well ... forests to use paper to print on it, especially if it's not a real need to have something printed (just to read some times and then dropping it away), etc. Ok let's end this useless part of my post :D

But anyway, what I thought about now, is the possibility to emulate printing with ep128 emulators. That's why I asked about printer internals; the manual talks a lot about control sequences but I thought it's more easy to emulate the hardware of printer (MCU/CPU) so it will cause the most accurate result instead of trying to write emulation for control/escape sequences. But I am not sure any more: emulating the printer causes to have "dot matrix style" output. Well, it's the true "old times" feeling but it also causes that the output cannot be interpreted easily (without OCR) as normal text, or have good quality print on a modern printer then. So I am really not sure what is the nice solution here .... Emulation should provide a way to print directly on the printer attached to the machine running the emulator (using the host OS printer stuffs) but maybe also using files (plain text? pdf? postscript? images?) to render "pages" into them, which should be as close to the result of an EP80 as it can be ...
