Games : Need some Metadatas
« on: 2009.September.06. 21:26:53 »
Hi,

For the eCC-Frontend, i need some Infos about the Games.
For Example: Year of Release, Publisher, Developer, Programmer, Musican, Multiplayer (yes/no...or how much), medium (Tape,Disk,Cartridge ? )..etc

on this site : http://www.ep128.hu/Ep_Games/Games_09.htm  I can see a few infos (release,publisher)
Where can i find this Infos ? - do you have a list...maybe in english...?

and another Question :

I have some TOSEC-Files of the Enterprise-games.
"3D Starstrike" is there namend : "3D Starstrike (1985)(Realtime Software)" - so : Release: 1985 / Publisher:Realtime Software
But on your Download-Site above it's called : 1988 Code Masters......
What are the right Infos...(maybe there are different versions....one from 1985 and the other from 1988)  :?:
(or is 1988 the Spectrum-release ? )

any ideas here ?

A good question...
About 90% of the games are Spectrum conversions. In most cases the info is the same as that of the Spectrum version. (There must be a few games where some differences can be found, e.g. the music is not the same as the music of the Spectrum version.)
Another good question is when the games were converted into Enterprise and who converted them. Sometimes it is not known, but in certain games you can see the name of the converter person when you load the game, mostly in the loading screen.
It would be a task for us to collect all the information about the games...
Anyway, Attus converted a number of games into Enterprise, he certainly can tell us which games are theirs. (If you are also interested in who converted the games.)

There are not many multiplayer games (I mean the game can be played by two players at the same time), e.g. Wizard of Wor.

If you can find the cassette cover on the web-page mentioned (ep128.hu), the medium is tape. The other games were not officially released, they are works or conversions of "amateur" programmers, so they spreaded the way that people copied them. Maybe there are a few games that work only on tape, and a few that only on disk. (But the members of the forum repaired most of such games in order that (=damit) they work both on disk and on tape.) As I know no cartridge games were made.

Yes, thanks for reply :-)
Ich habe alles verstanden

and, of course, it's also good to know, who made the conversions !
So, i will start/run all games, to look, what infos are inside the Games.
I'll write all infos, that i'll find in the Metadatas in eCC.
And you're right....this will be a big Task  :smt118

One more Question  for  this DL-Page : http://www.ep128.hu/Ep_Games/Games_AB.htm
Under "gép" i can see mostly the Entrys "Ep128 & Spectrum"
If there only stands "Ep128" , the Game was developed/released for the Enterprise, right ?

But how can i see, wich Game is :
1. an officially (commercial) conversion/version for the Enterprise ?
2. only for Spectrum, and  then coded by "amateur"-programmers ?
3. first developed/released for Enterprise, and then converted to the Spectrum (don't know, if Spectrum was always the First System for the Games)

I know, for some Games, there are "Enterprise Tape-Cover-Scans" - So, that are original EP Games !

but, the "Fake" Coverscans are allways for "amateur-conversions" , or maybe also for missing  Tape-Covers ?

Maybe you have a list for original Games and amateur-conversions for the Enterprise ?

The TOSEC - list for the Enterprise, has only 49 Games....so all other Games are amateur-conversions ?
(well, I think the TOSEC-List is not completely.... ;-)  )

can you help me out here ?

regards,
Vicman

Not always. It can ba also a CPC conversion. E.g. Turbó Rudi was thought to be an original EP game but not much ago somebody found the CPC game Electro Freddy. It is sometimes difficult to find the original game because it can have different name.
RX-220 also seemed to be an original EP game but somebody realised in 2009 (!) that it isn't.

A good question... you cannot see it only if we tell you. :D Maybe a thorough database of Enterprise programs is still missing, we should create it.
Those who had/have Enterprise computer at home know about what programmes he bought in the shop and what programmes were sold. That's why we know which program is a retail ("officially issued") game which isn't. And, of course, the cassette covers we find on the net (e.g. on E-bay) can tell us more. But those who didn't have an Enterprise computer can't have much information about it because in the program database we didn't write about these things, yes. Sorry about the inconvenience. At any rate we try to help you. :)

Moreover, I have had an Enterprise computer since about 1988 but I don't know about all the programs if they are original EP programs or not. We always find an original game in some other computer for the game we thought it was originally coded for EP. (E.g. RX-220)

In the wiki here I began to write a list of the original EP games (here). But I am afraid there are some not original EP games in the list. At any rate, the "Orksoft játékok" (Orksoft games) are original EP games (hello Endi!) but, of course not officially released. At the end of the list you can see "Eredetinek látszó Enterprise játékok, de nem azok" which means "Games which seem to be original EP games but they aren't".

A good question if there are more officially released EP programs than cassette covers on the ep128.hu. Maybe there aren't.
One more thing: Cassette pack 1-2-3 cassette covers contained cassettes with some programmes you can find on the ep128.hu but I am not sure which games they contained.

I think we have to create now a thorough list about the original EP games, about the conversions and about the official (retail) games...

This 3rd category doesn't exist. I am sure, no original EP program was converted to other platforms.

Thank you, szipucsu  ;-)
So, we (I am) need the Help of all Enterprise-Users, to be sure, wich games are officially EP-Games (exept some games, that are absolutly clear...)
Now, you have to tell all "non english speaking" Enterprise Users, to finish your wiki-list  :ds_icon_cheesygrin:

Another Idea to have a complete Metadata-list for all Enterprise-Games, seperatly/additionally to your wiki  is:

1. Talk about eCC in the Hungarian-EP Forum :
2. All interesting Users can now Download and Install the Frontend emuControlCenter (Hungarian Language is also available)
3. Put in/parse the roms/games for Enterprise in it, and now you can edit/write all knowing Infos for each Game in the "Metadatas - Info".
4. All Infos can now uploaded to the Online Game-Database of eCC

link

This are the Dumps i will use in eCC

Well, it's sometimes a really interesting question if a certain game is an original EP game or not. As for Sorcery and Cauldron, we talked about the problem on the Hungarian forum and we couldn't decide if these two programs are original EP games or not. :D We cannot know if these games were converted from CPC or maybe they were being written simultaneously for CPC and EP.
Furthermore, if they were really converted from CPC, they can also be considered original EP games as they are not simply conversions but major differences can be found between the CPC and the EP versions.
So, it's sometimes subjective to decide if a game is original EP game or not.

First we should define what an original EP game is. :D Anyway, there are a lot of Pacman-like games but there might be original EP games among them. If the idea is not original, the coding can be independent from other platforms, it's the criteria of an original game. And, in the case of Cauldron and Sorcery we cannot know the truth.

As for the official games, they are all official which have a cassette cover on ep128.hu. But under "Kazettaborító terv" there are only our pass-time designs. :D We are still thinking about if there are more official games we don't have the cassette cover but there might not be too many.

Yes, I understand....so we need to find out & contact the People, who coded the Games....or the publisher.....
strangely, that no one of them is here in the Forum !?

Yes, it's strange. I don't really know why the official game programmers didn't find this forum, yet. Maybe they have a lot of other things to do, I think...
