I see least 15 titles what I wanted it...
...but unfortunately UK only :smt089
I very hope one of our forum members win this auction!
I will want ask the winner for scanning some covers for the Enterprise tape cover collections. (http://www.ep128.hu/Album/Ep_Kazetta/Ep_Kazetta.htm)
-
Zozo,
If you want to win that auction - let me know and I will bid for you - just let me know what your limit is. You can paypal me the money after the auction etc. (and if you dont pay I can always keep the items myself ;) :D )
Cheers
Tricky

Thanks! It is great idea!
-
Other option is to swap for an auction in Hungary - would happily swap the software in the ebay auction for a fully working EP128 and disk drive from Budapest rather than using paypal !!

Guys,
Its rare enough that something for the Enterprise appears on ebay - and after bidding for some bits over the last weekend - maybe its worth looking at agreeing a policy where we decide who is bidding on something before hand to limit the total price. I dont mind paying for stuff - but seems a bit pointless if we are bidding against each other when we can all benefit?
Not sure how we can do it - but if anyone wants to suggest anything ???
Cheers

Hello Zozo! I did not quite win Sunday's eBay UK EP64 auction (item 270186142585),
despite a max of 212.50 UKP - it seems someone else was more desparate to find an
EP than I was. :D
However, I did win the auction for the schematics and documents. Thus, would you like
me to post you photocopies of all the items I receive? I have already offered to do the
same for the person who won the tapes auction (is that you Tricky?). I will be scanning
the docs for my site anyway, but thought perhaps you'd like some photocopies.
My hunt for an EP continues... will gladly swap a nice SGI for one! :D (eg. Indy, Indigo2,
O2 or Octane)
Cheers! :)
Ian.

Ian,
Yup - it is me !!
Welcome to the site !! If your looking for an Enterprise - its worth keeping an eye on Vatera as quite a few come up for sale on there (although its in Hungarian) but I know a number of members on here end up buying them from ebay auctions all over Europe.
Will sort out the software for you when it arrives here. In the meantime there is a very good Enterprise emulator called EP32 - im sure some of guys on here can give you the details but I think there is a unix version?? (sorry im wintel).
Cheers

My hunt for an EP continues...
See the Shockwav3's auction previously.
Or the EP64 on spanish Ebay (http://cgi.ebay.es/ORDENADOR-ENTERPRISE-64-CON-CARTUCHO-BASIC-100-OK_W0QQitemZ130167260797QQihZ003QQcategoryZ89183QQcmdZViewItem).
Or offer a good price to me for a EP128+disk controller card :-)

As far as I know, EP32 is Win32-only. On the other hand, ep128emu (http://sourceforge.net/projects/ep128emu/) does run on at least one unix platform, and may also have better emulation accuracy. However, compiling on SGI may still be problematic, but with some luck you could get the older version 1.6.1 to run (SDL (http://www.libsdl.org/) and the GNU development tools are needed). The 2.x versions are more advanced, but have more dependencies, and would probably not work.

Despite wanting to find an EP for years, I don't know that much about the hw details
at this point. Do you have a page about the disk controller card? I am intrigued!
Cheers! :)

This is one original card. (http://ep.homeserver.hu/Galery/Bovitmenyek/Picture/EXDOSPCB1.JPG) (many other clones exist)

Definately recommend a disk controller card (EXDOS) - much easier than trying to use tapes (and quicker :) ) - especially since you can pretty much use a PC (or unix box) to download the files and then write them to a 3.5" disk and just stick it in the Enterprise.
The disk controller card allows you to plug in any Shugart 410 compatible floppy (meaning pretty much anything for a BBC model B or 720K PC floppy disk drive) Only thing you will need on top of that (as you can use a PC floppy cable) is a 5v power supply for the disk drive. It's not the neatest solution - would of been better if the EXDOS could of powered the floppy drive but 5v PSU's are easy enough to find even if its just an old PC PSU.
The standard Enterprise cards are just floppy controllers - whereas some modified cards have extra system memory, roms, etc. built into them.

Thanks for that! Yes, sounds like a plan. So would the drives used with Ataris/Amigas be ok?
> Only thing you will need on top of that (as you can use a PC floppy cable) is a 5v power supply for the disk drive.
Not a proble, I'm swimming in PSUs. Should have a 5V unit somewhere.
What's a typical price for a controller card?

Another boxed EP64 on the UK eBay. (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rare-Boxed-Elan-Enterprise-64-with-Manuals-and-Games_W0QQitemZ230195093847QQihZ013QQcategoryZ4193QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

And now the UK eBay is full of with Enterprise items from hungarian sellers. 128K machines, tapes and etc.
EP64 on the spanish eBay, started at 1 euro. (http://cgi.ebay.es/ORDENADOR-ENTEPRISE-64-DESDE-1-EURO_W0QQitemZ320191501635QQihZ011QQcategoryZ89183QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

Thanks! I did manage to obtain both the card and the bus bridge just after Christmas (eBay items 230201032730 and
230201028468). They cost me rather a lot, but I decided what the hell, they are not going to appear very often,
so I will treat myself for xmas. :D
I have just been testing the card and bridge with a dual-drive unit from a BBC-Master system, everything
seems to work fine! Thankyou for your help! 8)
So that's the storage system sorted out. The next thing I want to do is construct a proper RGB monitor
connection as the RF picture quality is very bad. Has anyone written a clear page on how to do this?
To Tricky: I haven't forgotten about you! I will scan the docs as soon as I can, just been very busy after new
year with work.
Cheers! :)

The above 64 is very interesting, but I'd only be interested in the exdos module. I have 3 enterprise computers already ;-)
also:
lots of stuff from the same seller, including private enterprise magazines (http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsassZsonic_of_brighton)

Tricky writes:
> Is someone on here bidding for the 3.5 inch floppy disk drive? I need one but I dont want to bid against someone here??
Yes, I was going to, but I wasn't going to bid that high since I have already obtained a working 5.25" setup, so
don't worry about me.
I was more interested in the peripheral items. Only going to bother with the main system if the bidding hadn't gone
sky high already.
> I also want the EP64 thats appeared - got 2 EP128's but no 64 !!
Way over my budget. :D On the other hand, I did spend quite a lot to get the EXDOS card and bridge...
Btw, here is a good book I would recommend:
http://www.digitalretro.co.uk/
Alas it does not include the Enterprise. I spoke with the author; he said the Enterpise isn't covered because
he couldn't find anyone who had a system he could take pictures of, etc. I said if he ever did a future revision
then he would be welcome to come and take pictures of the EP128 I have; he said sure, that would be great,
though he's not certain yet that he will do a newer edition (he would like to, but has other commitments).
But anyway, it's a very nice book. Excellent pictures. I bought two: one for me, one for my brother for xmas/07.
Ian.
-
Ian,
DigitalRetro is an excellent book - but the absence of the Enterprise was always a weakness - so hopefully if he does a revision and includes it - that would be cool. There are quite a few other machines missing from it that could do with inclusion - one of those books where I would love to take the time to expand it by including more !!
Thanks for the info - I will bid for the 3.5" disk drive - just handy as it includes a PSU! and is a sealed unit as opposed to the current setup which is less than cat proof ;-)
The EP64 I (we as Zozo wants half of it ;-) ) is the one with 6 days to go at the moment and includes empty cartridges - so its still at reasonable money !!
Cheers

You should try to be treated yourself as the "official EP expert of planet Earth", so machines can be sold at higher price if they are "Zozo approved" :) This would have the advantage to gather more information on machines, like the requirement (for Zozo-approved stamp) can include the short history of the machine, serial number, etc etc :)

A rather strange one: a Nick chip in a holder!
I bidded on it! I have machines with dead Nick :-(
-
How can it be ? How can appear an unused nick chip from the nowhere ? And if it can be, there can be more, maybe ... Is it the only- one ? This nick's story is more interesting/important than itself, isn't it ?
-
If it is unused, it might not work, might it? As I know, if those components aren't used for a long time, they may go wrong. (As, for example, the cassette tape players, if you do not use them for many-many years.)
-
In Germany (http://enterprise.iko.hu/historical/Pricelist_HW_1990Jan-2.jpg) Nick and Dave chips sold separately.
I think this is come from service spare.
-

Electrical and mechanical items are different things! For your example the tape player has a lot of rubber parts which can be deformed when not used.

That EP128 looks nice, box in good condition.
Zozo, on a different note I have a spare 64K internal memory expansion if you
know anyone who might like it. I was going to upgrade my EP64 but I decided
not to as I already have a EP128. This is an original EP memory upgrade and
will need to be soldered in.

Many years ago he is got a big heap of vintage computing stuff from a friend who is worked in computer service at lot of times ago.But don't know why included the Nick chip in this package, because he is repaired mostly Commodore machines.
Only this one Nick chip.

I wouldn't attach any meaning to having a UK plug: it is simple to cut off a two-pin plug and replace with a UK plug - that's what I did on mine. Only I fitted a black one to match better :)

Cheap Arabic EP64. (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Enterprise-64-Not-Working-/181202747838?pt=UK_VintageComputing_RL&hash=item2a308681be)
It is out of order, but I think it is very easy to repair! From the failure details I think (99.999%) the internal 12V PSU circuit doesn't work. (It is used by the PAL video ICs and the internal speaker amplifier.)
It is a very common problem. The TR2 (BC337) transistor is dead, needed to be replaced. It can be damaged again by the dried out C9 capacitor, it's a good idea to replace this, especially if the motherboard uses PHILIPS electrolytic capacitors.

See the labels in the inventory. (http://enterprise.iko.hu/inventory.htm) All EP64 have a printed S/N, and PAL1 TV type. The later EP128 machines also have same style S/N, just the TV marked as PAL UHF.
But the first ~5000 (I guess, needed more 4xxx-5xxx photos) have a different style labels: only 5 character long S/N, and different character set. The 4xxx machines have another style characters, probably typewriter used?
All of these marked as PAL.
Now lok the Ebay machine label: it is a 007238, but the style same with the 04xxx machines!
I have the 007236 (http://enterprise.iko.hu/inventory/128_007236.jpg) machine which is have the normal printed label!
Currently two exception know from the high S/N machines: 009007 (http://enterprise.iko.hu/inventory/128_009007.jpg) and 060134 (http://enterprise.iko.hu/inventory/128_060134.jpg) (I have both :) )
These also marked as PAL.
But the Ebay machine are PAL I/G! I never see same! It is have some difference in video circuit?
I hope somebody from the forum buy it, and can send photos from the motherboard!

Looks a bit tired for the price…. :(
Would be a nice item to restore, and I assume the drive would need replacing
due to the amount of corrosion on the case.

Yes, it is ultra rare, I think less than 1000 units produced. Only few existing units known, and until now only two boxed.
Anyway look at the serial numbers the unit numbers are different than the box numbers.
My unit has the own box :-)
Made in Germany without edge connector.
Are you thinking about the System Bus bridge?
It is built in.
[attach=1]
I think the unsold EXDOS cards putted to these units.
The case size also good for 5.25" drive, but never see 5.25" version.
-
Oh yes I mean that big, big and useless System Bus Bridge. Yes, the box seems to be better designed to house a 5 1/4 unit. May be the new sells better?
-
Or can be good to fit inside some HXCs....

Very Interesting one, it is with original EXDOS 1.3 ROM! Previously I see 1.3 ROM only on built in cards of the Enterprise floppy unit. The currently know stand alone cards have 1.0 ROM.
I guess this is from the last produced cards and this is the reason why the labels missing.

This topic on the English forum, please write in English.
Don't good for Enterprise, because only 2x28 pins. 2x33pins needed for the machine, 2x37 for bus expansion.

Sorry, I forgot the language ...

Is there an actual "cheap place" for edge connectors, just now ?
However, Is the problem with the previous connectors only the size ?
Can I use those for monitor/jostick/etc. connectors ?

Rare one, because ONE TWO EIGHT label replaced by 128K label, only few machine known in this version.
And more extreme rare, because it is have the box, where also over-labeled the English texts with German labels.
Only 2-3 machine known with same box. I have one :-D
As i know when started the Enterprise in Germany exist a language law which is need the full localization. This the reason why the German version Enterprise developed.

Cheap EP128
No RF ouput, but I think this is not important function :-)
Is it worth it's price? (it's english keyboard, a psu and a basic(?) cartridge, yes?) or better wait for another one to pop up...(fully working)
What does "no rf signal" mean? (sorry for such stupid question...)
What about the joystick caps? Can they be obtained somewhere or one should look for a 3d printer for that?
Oh and by the way (somewhat offtopic), would it be hard to build yourself a joystick interface for old 9pin c64 joysticks?
-
What does "no rf signal" mean? (sorry for such stupid question...)
Regular connection with antenna cable don't work.
But also when working it is very low quality picture, for using the machine with good quality, sharp picture need a RGB Scart cable. This is why I say: the RF output not important.
Anyway I think the RF output can be repaired easy.
What about the joystick caps? Can they be obtained somewhere or one should look for a 3d printer for that?
Waiting for 3D printing...
Oh and by the way (somewhat offtopic), would it be hard to build yourself a joystick interface for old 9pin c64 joysticks?
There is the simple wiring. (http://enterprise.iko.hu/cables/Joy.png) Not too complicated. But the autofire don't work with this solution. Need to modify the joystick, or build active joystick converter with few IC and diodes.

That is interesting - it is by Lotharek, the guy from Poland who sells the SD card floppy drive emulator. Btw, it's important to declare, that using FPGA is _not_ an emulation but a hardware level stuff, as you would solder things together, just here the "soldering" of logic cells etc can be done inside the FPGA :) But it's very different thing from an emulator running on another computer ...

I don't like to buy from non communitarian countries because it means added taxes to the final price... but if it ends cheap....
-
I don't understand this added tax or with other name "Import charges". I haven't seen it before, only this (or previous) year has been comming up.
Normally when I buy something little (20x20*20 cm), it is marked as gift, and shouldn't be pay extra fees. The import charges has to be payed if it's more than x Dollar, or a big volume.
And why I don't have to pay extra, when I buy from China?
-
I think it isn't a problem of foreign authorities. In Spain sometimes they do not charge, but sometimes they even want to include the transport to calculate the taxes if it is displayed in the bill. You can't complain, just pay what they tell you or never will got what you've already purchased.
Now exists a new way. You pay a fixed tax to the seller and he declares it as paid in origin. You can distinguish these Ebay items, especially from USA, which have a similar text: "Customs taxes provided".
About the Chinese products I think that the taxes depend on international agreements with the CE. Another aspect is the free delivery, they take advantage of hollows in container loads to bring small items here. Its free but can last a month or not arrive ever....
-

The truly incomprehensible thing: he is bought the machine is same state from Vatera. Now two seller who are don't cleaned this poor machine...

I enjoyed very much a software speaking library the early Amiga computers had. I managed the family business program to ask for data to my father in "Spanglish"... much the same as Speakeasy seems to do.
I decoded the program and it was based on easy English rules, not directly on vocal sounds. Then, I planned to do Spanish rules for it, but that work is still undone...

A Spanish Retrowiki EXDOS clone (http://www.ebay.es/itm/Elan-Enterprise-64-128-Floppy-Disc-Controller-EXDOS-CARD-/191872771552?hash=item2cac8225e0:g:-kgAAOSwShJXL4j1). Very cheap, only 65 Euro.
-
This idea came to my mind.
Perhaps, just the fast, before the rise of All-In-One, something smaller EXDOS + Gotek/HxC + LCD + a little memory (1 MB) + a bridge (FlexiBridge) for expansion ?
It was possible to achieve in a few months.
I'll try to estimate costs.
It would be looks like the pictures (colleague product). Photo 1 (http://images75.fotosik.pl/586/17453a4bb29a9952.jpg) Photo 2 (http://images75.fotosik.pl/600/4498494bd6d415a9.jpg)
-
The problem with this EXDOS only solution is that you still have a basic 128k unit. Your idea is better, with 1 MB memory the user doesn't need to open the machine. And Flexibridge for future expansion modules(yours).
You even can try a super EXDOS with overclocked WD1772 to manage DD disks... Ask Zozo.
And a bigger Rom to put some utilities.
-
It may be a classic bridge. I do not insist. I wanted to do well ;)
-
Yes, better something basic, easy and fast.

Ok I have found it. They are two Speech 64 (https://www.c64-wiki.com/index.php/Voice_Messenger), like the EP Speakeasy box but for the C64.

Brand new EP64! (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162316747114) From Kazakhstan.
-
The prices are being increased artificially, if there was so much interest in the Enterprise, surely an avalanche would be noticed on this website.
-
The seller says it is a never used computer, and it's box is also in good condition, probably this is the reason of so high price.
-
It is not the only case, see the price put by other Enterprise sellers.

Maybe not with a case, but building clones of the main chips used in 8-bit computers is not unusual, there is even a recent Hungarian project (https://hackaday.io/project/11460-fpgated) to reimplement the TED chip used in the Commodore 16/Plus/4. It should be possible to do something similar for the NICK and DAVE as well.

Used on the Enterprise Fishertechnik robot arm tests at ENTERPRISE Computers GmbH:
Unfortunately the Ebay offer doesn't have the PC Centronics lead, but on the other side it is not necessary as the Enterprise uses an edge connector.
The pinout and details can be found here (https://www.ftcommunity.de/ftComputingFinis/interfte.htm).
It can have interesting uses, aside of managing the robot arm, because the interface allows the control of four motors, switches and sensors:
A little overpriced compared with this web page (http://www.fischerfriendsman.de/index.php?p=7&sp=9&add=1:7568#R7568).

Mmmm....
But, here in Spain only the EP128 was offered....
The original unopened joystick adapter in the box (http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/~DYAAOSwUKxYjKxV/s-l1600.jpg) confirms it, because I knew the technician of the seller on Spain. They manufactured their own adapters and cables. I bought from them a Monitor RGB cable.
On the other side, the main plug is not of the English type, so probably it comes from another European country.

(description - Land Prise Auction Type)
Only EP128 Brd - UK 221 € Fix
Only EP128 no Basic BRD - Germany 25 € Bidding
Weared Boxed EP128 Brd - UK 331€ Fix
EP64 with Cartridge Arab - Agypt 84 € Bidding
Beautiful Boxed EP128 Brd - Romania 442 € Fix
-
I am really angry now. It can happen only in the german E-Bay.
I saw an EP128 boxed version. There was no minimum price given, so I tried with 105 Euro. After 1 day the seller saw, that the price is not going up, as he expected (maybe because lack of interest), and 2 days before the end of the auction, the price was still under 100 Euro, so he simply deleted the bidding. Reason: The auction has a failure.
-
May be he didn't put the offer on the correct class. Then it was not found on a normal searching where all the people can see it.
If I put something to sell, I would want the max visibility.
On the other side, Ebay has restricted zones on Germany just like on UK, only for a limited territory.

Brand new EP64 (http://www.ebay.de/itm/Enterprise-64-computer-sixty-four-near-mint-and-boxed-/142469233272) still available from Russia.
Another boxed EP 64 (http://www.ebay.de/itm/Enterprise-64-Computer-Boxed-Near-Mint-Condition/282584916150) from UK. Machine looks as new, but the box very damaged :-(

I think, that "Pothole Pete" is cassette for Memotex MTX computer (because it not unpacked) or really port of Memotex game, which is clone of Manic Miner:

Computer is similar to the MSX, but not MSX-compatible.
I saw many adverts in old magazines for that computer.
Interesting historical facts about that computer (and why it is not very famous):
The Russian schools system was looking to place a contract for systems in some 64,000 schools, to be used to provide education and training for robotics and control applications. In an attempt to secure the contract, Memotech worked with the Norwegian company, Norbit Elektronikk, to develop an add-on electronics unit to be offered alongside the CP/M based FDX disk system and with Oxford University to develop a Russian (Cyrillic) version of the system and BASIC ROMs, along with Russian documentation and keyboard. Memotech invested heavily in the development of this machine, but ultimately, lost out to Yamaha who won the contract with an MSX computer. This order was subsequently radically scaled back, only a few thousand were delivered, and the Russian government's aspiration to expand the use of computers in state schools faltered.
By the time of the Russian bid, the writing was already on the wall, not just for Memotech, but for the majority of UK home computer companies of the time. The Russian deal was the last throw of the dice for Memotech and when it failed, Memotech had nowhere to go and the company was put into administrative receivership.

Then, I shouldn't bid for it, should I...?
If you want the other items from that pack then you bid and sell me just the book. It is ok?
(I have all these tapes and also a original printer cable.)
-
Sorry, it was only a rather competitive joke...
But on the other side I would like to get one original parallel cable if this is really one of them. And also an original RGB cable if you have a spare one(you showed one of them on the pictures you sent me). I think that these connectors complement a lot with the overall design of the computer. My hand made ones adapt very good to the holes and edge, but aren't so stylish.
About the other connectors... EnterMice covers the rest of the holes much better....
No, I'm not interested on the tapes, thanks, I don't want to return to that era.... But may be my friend Sinclair200 can buy you some. He is a collector of all type of things. I can ask him. Put a price.

I have never seen that book.
About this book I saw reference only at Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enterprise_(computer)) (5-th ref) and in the mag Home Computing Weekly (http://enterprise.iko.hu/articles/Home_Computing_Weekly_131_0008.jpg)

Good idea! Once I started made a list of missing programs. (https://enterpriseforever.com/egyeb-temak/hianyzo-ep-programok/msg24623/#msg24623)
-
I have been reading the Centrum catalogue. It is incredible, there are a lot of missing programs with suggestive title.
Do you think they where real, or just stuff to fill the list? Have you heard of these programs from other users?
I mean for example, the Prolog and Logo compilers, both on disk and cartridge, or "WINDOWS I. Interlace Technic" and "PC emulation".
-
WINDOWS I. Interlace Technic
It's IS-BASIC extension. http://ep128.hu/Ep_Util/Windows.htm (hm... it's non interlased)
-
It isn't a Basic extension, but a new Video: device as extension. Interesting. Only text, no graphics.
Maybe the interlaced version is still missing. The "normal" interlace mode is also a Video: driver extension.
-
I have been reading the Centrum catalogue. It is incredible, there are a lot of missing programs with suggestive title.
Do you think they where real, or just stuff to fill the list?
After the first 15-20 years I started think these are fakes. But in the last ten years we found many never seen things (for example the most of Level 9 adventures). Soo probably not (all) fakes :-)
Have you heard of these programs from other users?
What I'm wrote to the list is the never seen programs, and some what we have but don't have the original tape/disk/cart release.

I love the style of Tim Box as Editor of the Newspaper "Private Enterprise" from 1986:
Quote from that Newspaper:
===Editorial===
Welcome to issue 5 of "Private Enterprise". There are, no doubt, a few questions you would like to ask us, well I will try to anticipate them and provide some kind of answers.
The first will no doubt be "why is this issue so late". To answer this look to the letters page.
The second might be "what is the meaning of the front cover". The answer, of course is a very cryptic one. Enterprise, as you will no doubt relaise, are in the classic "Catch 22" situation; no software, no sales, no sales, no software. Hence the neverending struggle. The question now is where are they going-up or down. We now belive we have the answer. We were going to reveal it all in this edition but have since been instructed by Enterprise not to disclose it. You will however find out next issue (if have not already heard).
The last question I can see you asking is "Why is this edition so small". The answer lies in printing costs and a lack of material to print. By that I mean printing costs are so high that we have to justify the inclusion if all the pages by high quality material. Thus as you probably will have realised, we short of.
Continuing along the theme of last issues editorial I bring up the subject of PR or the lack of it. Enterprise seem to have chosen to ignore the recommendations on cheap advertising that I made in issue 4. I now say this to them. It may be true that nobody wants to review conversions but I know of one magazine that prints what has been released even if it doesn't review it and that's better than nothing. How the heck do you intend to let prospective customers know that there is a software base (if a bit small) if you can't even be bothered to tell the press?
Finally we bring you good news. Issue 6 is our anniversary edition. "Private Enterprise" will be one year old. So to celebrate this monumental feat issue 6 will be given face-lift a "new look" magazine.

Hungarian translation of the last post.
Magyar fordítása az előző hozzászólásnak:
Nagyon tetszik a stílusa Tim Boxnak, a "Private Enterprise" lap szerkesztőjének 1996-ból:
Idézet az újságból:
===Szerkesztői köszöntő===
Üdvözlök mindenkit "Private Enterprise" 5. számában. Kétségtelen, felvetődött néhány kérdés, melyeket én most megpróbálok előrevetíteni és megválaszolni őket.
Az első kétségtelenül "miért jelent meg ez a lapszám ilyen későn". Erre a levelezési rovatban adunk választ.
Most ezt nekik írom.
A következő (6.) lapszám a mi évfordulós kiadásunk. A "Private Enterprise" újság egyéves lesz. Így, hogy megünnepeljük ezt a monumentális eseményt, 6. lapszám ráncfelvarráson esik át és "új külsejű" magazin lesz.

English EP128 (https://www.ebay.de/itm/Achtung-Sammler-Sehr-selten-Enterprise-128-Homecomputer/273296994761) starting from 1 Euro!

Strange that he hasn't took a picture with some text... And he doesn't show the expansion connector cap.
This will be a good measure of the actual real price of an Enterprise.
-
This will be a good measure of the actual real price of an Enterprise.
Maybe not. No shipping outside of Germany.
-
Maybe not. No shipping outside of Germany.
Yes. But at least let's try to ask him. In many cases, I could agree with the seller about international shipping, even when it is originally not specified. But it can depend on your country, it is possible he says no for Hungary, but says yes for England (for example).
-
My point was that the price will not be a determinant.
Not everyone wants to ask.
Some of buyers give up such offers immediately.
-
I have an opportunity to receive goods to a german address. So don't stop bidding!
-
I saw the description of the item. He is a hunagrian guy who sells the EP, he wants to make money. In germany the collectors giving out more money for that treasure.
-
He is a hunagrian guy who sells the EP
Where you see this?
I think it is a German huy who is previously bought the machine from Hungary.
, he wants to make money. In germany the collectors giving out more money for that treasure.
Then more better idea put to the UK Ebay, because much more interest for the EP in UK.
-
I don't think he wants to make huge amounts of money. A proffesional seller doesn't risk to have a poor sale starting the bid on only an Euro, nor sells only in one country.
On the other side, He knows about the Mephisto64 variant. Does the average Hungarian Enterprise owner know that?
On the state/condition of the item he says:
“Ich verkaufe alle meine Klassik-Computer als defekt, auch wenn ich sie geprüft habe und sie scheinbar gut funktionieren. Allerdings kann man bei so alten Geräten einfach keine Garantie übernehmen.”
"I sell all my classic computers as broken, even though I've tested them and they seem to work well. However, you can not guarantee with such old devices. "
So I think he is honest, not a regular seller, but in the past he has put some other computers for sale.
-
Where you see this?
I think it is a German huy who is previously bought the machine from Hungary.
Then more better idea put to the UK Ebay, because much more interest for the EP in UK.
He speaks in the description like an old man to a small children, with no respect. Like the owner were friend of the buyer. This is not common in Germany. Only foreigner makes this, because it is easier to speak, they don't understand the difference. There is no that kind of speech in the english language.
(In spanish there is two way also: "tu" or "usted", the second one is with more respect)
(In hungarian : "magázás")
Other side, no german never would say, "learn the hungarian to understand how to use the Enterprise" (because tha manual is hungarian).
This is a Hungarian guy, living in Germany. He probably doesn't know, that he can have more money on E-Bay UK.
He started a "1 Euro" bid, because more people will see that as usual. He knows, there was no EP on the Ebay before, that's why he knows someone will pay good money!
-
You have convinced me... Only a Magyar would think that his language is easy....
-
He knows about the Mephisto64 variant
He just copied the German Wikipedia article. (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enterprise_(Heimcomputer))
-
He knows about the Mephisto64 variant. Does the average Hungarian Enterprise owner know that?
Who is an average Hungarian EP owner? I think I am. I know about the Mephisto64. The average owner goes to the EP Club and knows about things like that. :D
-
You don't need to be an "average Hungarian EP owner" to know that - He cites German Wikipedia in his auction text.
Tobias
-
Now I realise, you Hungarians have a high level of Enterprise knowledge...
Once in a time I used to think that I was the only "average" Enterprise user in all Spain....
-
The auction is ended. The last bid was 136€.
This is the normal price for an Enterprise 128 here in Hungary as well.
Notice: That was not a "boxed" version.

Yes, I also looked it :-) probably the Enterprise GmbH also sold separate some remaining spare supplys?

These are loaded from the disk. (Cartridge ROMs are under the EXDOS in the list)

All the equipment could be a mix, because the cartridge case seems an EP64 genuine, but with the 2.1 Basic.Rom.

Curiously he tests the unit with a number labelled EP128:

I think Enterprise GmbH sold upgrades from 64k to 128k, which included that Enterprise 128k sticky label. So maybe that computer is an upgrade 64k machine.
-
It was only politics. On that era new hard laws of "germanization" of the computers were introduced. On Spain happened similar.
Is for that they added a low quality paper sticker over the stock plastic one.... They changed "ONE TWO EIGHT" by a big "128K".

Hi, keyboardjunkie
Let me congratulate you first.
I see you became the ENTERPRISE owner...

Thanks Judge!
I got delivery for 25UK Pounds - which I was happy with at the end of the day.
That'll make 2 EP 128's and 1 EP 64 in my collection (and I think I have another EP128 and EP64 in my loft somewhere!) and one board which I am fixing up - just need that coil (113CNK1881) from Zozo when he gets them - he got the last 3! :-(
Can't now find any of those coils on the web - I wish I knew what the coil was - inductance wise - may be able to find a replacement that will work..
Is there a parts list document anywhere that lists the parts and values of the EP components that you know of?
Also - I got the modulator from you (posted my your daughter - please pass on my thanks to her!) and soildered it in - works a treat!
Will look better when I get that coil in though!
Thanks again,
Mark.

Cheers Zozo - have emailed a company in the UK that specialises in finding old varibale inductors (epecially Toko). We'll see what they come back with.
Any update on the price for the Ram upgrade / EXOS ROM and have your coils appeared yet?
Just a genltle nudge! :-)

I never really understood why people start bidding days or weeks before the auction ends. All they do is raising the price unnecessarily for themselves.

Yes, that time is only important for the seller, for the announce being found by the max number of persons, but for the potential winner of the bid only matters the last second, or less...
Auctions are awful.

Maybe you know somebody who want to travel to see the Pyramids.... and return with a big box under the arm...
There is a mystery on it. According to Werner, he sold Enterprises to the Egypt customer(Mr. Nabil Lashine (https://enterpriseforever.com/hall-of-fame/qa-with-werner-lindner-technical-director-of-the-enterprise-computers-gmbh/msg45483/#msg45483)-Computer Technical Co. in Cairo), who then changed the set of keys to the Arab version, but this unit still has the English keyboard. It is a 64KB unit, so it is coherent as only these models where sent to Egypt. Probably it comes from the stock retained by his bank in 1994.

Hello everyone, my first post here :) I never used enterprise but I wanted to buy it for some time and managed to get one from this guy from Egypt.
I will take my time to learn about it, but I will first get some hardware additions and then the software.
Model I bought is 64, it came with original box with power supply, some (I guess) audio cables, IS-BASIC, unopened demonstration cassette, 2 small and 1 big manual.
All in all, it's working and looks like never used so I am really thankful to this guy.
Hope to see you all on the forum some time in the future...

I suggest that no one buys cable on eBay...

49.99£ + 15£ = 64.99£ Ghrrr... :smt110
-
It seems a reseller, not Retrocables themselves.
Edit: No, they are really them going mad...... It is even worse, 55,18+16,56 =71,74 Euro against 19,99+shipping on their own web site.
I have put a complaint on their website.
-
It seems a reseller, not Retrocables themselves.
Yes, I know that the "Retrocables" is 19.99€ :)
"Retrocables" are also expensive
-
gflorez:
"Your cables had always seemed affordable to me and I have recommended them, but I do not know what justifies that the same Enterprise cable that you sell here for 20 Euros+postage, you put it on sale on Ebay for 55,17 Euros. It is that not even paying the commission to Ebay and Paypal is justified such a profit margin.
I'm thinking to compete with you with a better and cheaper cable, which could be easy.
I understand that yours is a business, but those of us who buy from you are modest amateurs, not stupid who have to be squeezed. Retro-computing has to remain a hobby, not elitism."
Retrocables:
"The price difference is due to the immediacy, the cables on the web are subject to a manufacturing period of 15 working days. While ebay is manufactured on the day, what is being paid is the extra hour that the person in charge of the manufacture will do that day, so as not to affect the rest of the customers who have placed their order on the web. If we were to sell it at the same price, it would be unfair for those who buy them on the web since those from eBay would have preferential treatment for being manufactured on the day.
The shipping costs are due to the fact that the item is on ebay UK, and they are the common costs of European shipments, you can not differentiate shipping Spain. We include it on ebay at that price since many customers in Europe have asked us for a preferential manufacturing.
Prices on the web have practically not changed in 9 years, despite increasing the quality (all cables have been shielded for a few years and with a cable manufactured in Spain (much more expensive than imported ones, but we prefer cable manufactured in Spain), which rises every year) and those that have risen have been due to improvements (3D housings for example) or due to a very high rise in materials that we have not been able to assume.
All our profits are reinvested in the company, to make new products or increase the catalog.
Greetings and thank you"
I still think the same, they are fostering elitism on retro-computing.
-
Well, if the eBay offer would be advertised as a "we'll drop everything we're currently doing to supply your order immediately" premium, alternatively "buy at our web store for 30€ less and wait" offer - fine with me. But it isn't.
As it looks to me, every cable sold on eBay would make me wait even longer for the cable bought on the web store.
In fact, the web store has the following nice addition - not sure if that's a recent one:
[attachimg=1]
That promises a 15-day-delivery as well.... (A promise never kept in my experience)
So, all-in-all, another sign that retro hobby is becoming more and more expensive. But: Prices are driven by the market......
-
Bla,Bla,Bla...
Retrocables:
The price difference is due to the immediacy, the cables on the web are subject to a manufacturing period of 15 working days.
They take advantage of the fact that you can't buy one elsewhere.
I took my first cable from them and waited a month for it. It was very expensive and the EP connector is a joke.
That’s why I made myself a quality cable.
[attach=1]
[attach=2]
[attach=3]
-
Just to say:
Judge cable approx. 10x better quality than Retrocables.
You can see the difference even on a Philips CM8833 monitor!
-
They have had always the same advert about making time. And it is a dirty excuse for me the claim that they use "Spanish parts", more expensive.... It is a fake to catch the worst nationalism.

Ok, I see, but the price is not so beautiful....
-
Not so rare, but it is rare to find a 128KB on Egypt.
It is interesting to see that it has such a low serial number ... 01036, and that the font on the label itself also looks a little different to the later machines that the seller still has on auction.
I'm glad that I bought my EP64 from him back early in March when his prices were a bit lower.

Just noticed a person selling an EP64 on ebay - for £5000 + £50 s/h.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/363106531496
Messaged them to ask if the price was a mistake, and the reply was no, but if I wanted to make an offer?
I didn't and a few minutes later another message offering me one for £300 - makes me furious these sharks..
Interestingly, it was accompanied with a picture showing a pile of boxed EP's that they had for sale..
-
The same seller will also happily sell you an empty Coca Cola bottle for £195! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/363300800022 (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/363300800022)
-
I think he is the same guy with other nick selling the Egyptian Enterprises stock. He is not a shark, he is just saying:" You don't need to pay thousands of pounds for an Enterprise....".
For me it seems like a strange strategic....but maybe effective.
-
Hmmm strange tactic indeed..
He gave me some chat about moving a store and putting the price of the item up so that no one would be tempted to buy it.
Sorry, but seen this exact tactic elsewhere in the past.. just hoping to catch someone out I think..
Anyhow..
-
Ah, ok, now I understand. He tries to make an agreement or a deposit outside Ebay....
That is very risky, yes.
-
I also have a story. It is not ebay, it was a hungarian flea market website with fixed prices.
The guy (probably an old man with very bad grammatic) sold 7 pieces commodore cassette-tape with games. Multiple games on both side of the cassette like Raid over Moscow, and another big titles from that era. (The cassette was a pirate copy, not an original one)
He was offering a casette for 270 Euro. So the whole 7 was total ca 2000 Euro.
I was asking him, if it was a mistake.
He told me no, he think these are very fantasic games from that era, and it worth every penny. And nowdays it is hard to find.
He was asking me to call him, he wanted describe, how well these games are.
I wrote back him, that these games are available online nowdays, so anyone can copy it into a casette for 4 Euro (The unopened cassettes are expensive nowdays, at least in Hungary).
He did not answered my message. Probably I broke his little world. :D
I think he was a isolated insane guy, who selected the price without checking other offers, or the fact that we can find almost any software on the internet for free.

OFF:
Facebook told me 4 times that I will be able to use functions like sending messages and asked me if I really do agree. Crazy... Why wouldn't I agree? And what are the disadvantages of this? No information was told about it...
