Title: RGP Socket Name or Part Numer?
Post by: Tech on 2019.December.25. 19:53:56
I'm thinking of making an RGB/SCART cable for my E64. I have the scart plug, cable and resisters. I only lack the RGB socket (picture attached), which I don't know its name or part number in order to order it online. Any help please?

Thank you.

2.54mm (0.1") edge connector.
This seller have a lot of various sizes. (https://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_odkw=&_ssn=wonderco_buy&hash=item1e92dbe45e%3Ag%3AKEUAAMXQnYJQ%7E35u&item=131312903262&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=2.54+edge+connector&_sacat=0)
You can buy one long, then cut it for monitor, joysticks, printer, etc

Always cut 2 more contacts at every side, let's say 9X2 pins on the RGB socket. Later you can trim the back of the connector to auto-centre on the Enterprise socket.

Then you extract the two pair of pins at the sides and cut the pluggable zone, up to the point where the Enterprise PCB tops.

At this point the connector only needs a little channel at the sides.

But remember: You have to mark the 2 sides because this connector can also be connected upside down.... don't worry, it will not break your EP if happens.

The old trick to avoid this is to glue a  cut of PCB at the underside, the width of the connector, but longer. It will add the connector some advantages, you could pull from the PCB instead of the leads, and it can serve you to fix the sheath with a nylon cable tie. Then you can cover all with retractile tube to make it more "professional".

Thank you for the tips.

I ordered AMP 645235-8 connector. I'll start doing this video cable once I restore the E64.

I made the cable but I'm getting inconsistent video signal. I've a doubt about the pinout order! Is the attached picture correct? I'm using the digram from here: http://enterprise.iko.hu/pinouts.htm

Thank you.

Strange! I made some wrong connections and got B/W picture. After I fix those connections I get no picture at all (only black screen), but I can hear key clicks on the TV's speaker. Unfortunately, I don't have an oscilloscope right now to trace the signals :/
