Title: Rgb2Hdmi enterprise profile
Post by: Pluto63 on 2021.November.09. 13:00:28
Anyone here with an rgb2hdmi device for some help?
I’ve started to create an enterprise profile for this device, I made some progress but I can’t eliminate a minor number of random black dots noise.
I’ll post the profile and a sampling video by tomorrow.

Also if anyone have any of the following specs

The resolution of the computer video output. (If it has multiple resolutions you need the highest one)
The approximate pixel aspect ratio (not the screen aspect ratio)
The sync type (composite or separate H/V) ... “here composite works fine”
The pixel clock frequency
The number of clock cycles per line

Hello Pluto63

unfortunately i can not help in most of your question.
the highest resolution is 736 x approx 290 pixel in 2 colour mode, in 4 colour mode horizontal width is half, in 16 colour is fourth, and in 256 colour mode is 1/8.
probably source of ep128emu contains the pixel aspect ratio

I think... but I must be erroneous...

I think that there is a grid on the EP signal that is always the same, with or without displaying lines or the mode. It can be clearly seen on the colour input experiments, the injected image shape is seen immutable(except for its colours) over the displayed lines, but not on the border. Maybe one day I will return to it, because I didn't test the effect on an interlaced screen. I think the figure will be seen the very same as on no interlaced screens.

I think he is asking the resolution and frequency of that grid, because it is slightly different from a "normal" PAL image, as we already know by practice.

Probably these calculations will help. (https://enterpriseforever.com/programming/what-is-the-number-of-clock-cycles-per-rasterline/msg63481/#msg63481)

Thank you for the info, they actually help, I have a decent profile atm, but I’m using it on a digital ttl interface on the rgb2hdmi since I missing one ic from the analog interface to complete the job.
I’m waiting it from China so will post results and profile as soon as I got it.

Small update, after realizing that with the analog interface only 64 colors of 265 could be captured I reverted back to TTL mode and contacted IanB on how to proceed. It’s possible to get all the signals directly from ic33 and one from ic38. You can see them here in the updated wiki
https://github.com/hoglet67/RGBtoHDMI/wiki/Cables
I’m designing a small piggyback pcb to get all the signals from ic 33 and the +5V power.
Also beta 45 of rgb2hdmi software has been released with a preliminary profile for the enterprise.
https://github.com/IanSB/RGBtoHDMI/releases

P.s. i was talking today to Lambros Potamianos author of the Next War program for the Next, he is a regular member of our Athens Retro Club and a fresh owner like me of the enterprise 128, yesterday at the club we where just finished mounting and testing his Pear exdos interface.
He said who did the conversion is a “God” ha ha

There is nothing special in my code in the conversion, i am sure it could be even faster, i am not a great programmer, just an amateur,the original code was great and was easy to work with it :-)

Profile for the enterprise ready, will do a pcb shortly for easy install on ic33 and a 3d printed stand to pass the ribbon outside the case through the cassette opening replacing that black felt over there.
I’ll do a mini video later in the current state for our club needing to show picture quality.

Anyway here is the profile if anyone want to try it, I’m sure it can be better tuned on the resolution part.

sampling=3,3,3,3,3,3,3,0,0,0,6,0,0,0,0,0,0,2,0,0,100,256,100,256,100,256,256,256
geometry=84,50,272,220,720,512,1,1,1,2,7093800,456,5000,312,4,0,0
scanline_level=0

Almost final profile and a small video for our internal use in the Club.

https://youtu.be/jDDI0V7_5_k

profile:
sampling=3,3,3,3,3,3,3,0,1,0,6,0,0,0,0,0,0,2,0,0,100,256,100,256,100,256,256,256
geometry=104,32,672,256,720,270,1,2,1,2,14237536,912,15000,312,4,0,0

Need some help if you can point me to a disk version (i don't have the sd interface) of some demo or software that uses the interlaced resolution
so i can do final touches to the profile, ty.

Interlace Demo 2 (http://ep128.hu/Ep_Demo/Prg/Interlace_Demo_2.rar)
Interlace Demo 3 (http://ep128.hu/Ep_Demo/Prg/Interlace_Demo_3.rar)

Thank you my friend but can you make me a virtual disk img, one is enough.
Or point me on how to transfer files from pc to virtual img disks.
I’ve tried with the ep128 and read from a pc directory but the copy command does not recognize the file: variable. I’m not very practical with the file system yet.

ps. nevermind did it

Image disk versions, done with Imdisk Virtual Disk Driver (https://sourceforge.net/projects/imdisk-toolkit/).

Yes I have everything ready, the pcb, the final profile and the 3D printed stand, I need to find the time to built it from prototype to final... I hope to do it shortly.

Made some progress from prototype to beta.
Profile is final, pcb final corrected from beta version to fit, 3d print stand for cassette to be done.
It works flawlessly but to do it you need some really good soldering experience and tools, enterprise pcb is very delicate to heat.
Will post final profile and gerbers later.

If any one produces this incl. an installations guide I would be very interested :-)

I am running my EP!28 on a (way too large) television via a RGB-Scart cable and it works ... but I would really like better picture quality.

I have tried to connect the EP to my RetroTink5Xpro but the signal is just too bouncy (https://www.dropbox.com/s/msanhpyo1c5nvzp/BouncyEP.MOV?dl=0). Even after adjusting L2 and C43 (this taken before). Adjusting helps btw. - alot.

Well, just wanted to let people know that I am in the market for this, if the chances comes. Thank you!

Will be interesting: the L2 module also will help on this problem?
It is a complete replacement (https://enterpriseforever.com/hardver/az-a-franya-l2-tekercs/msg87292/#msg87292) of Nick clock circuit, with a full stable clock signal.

For instance where you can get the L2 replacement and how to install it :)

There is the install guide, English version from page 11.

You can buy from kvaczko (https://enterpriseforever.com/profile/?u=556), write to he!
