Of course It only shares the mechanics, not the electronics. It had proportional movement according to the pin-out in the manual:

This is a Spectrum digital variant more similar to the Patkány, pictures thanks to World Oof Spectrum:





Observe the plain cable and the strain relief boot at the mouse side, it is the very same one of the Patkány.




It had the same polyurethane  ball with the same diameter of 32mm, but not the polyurethane pulleys. At least they have not been mentioned on the three sources we have now.

Then, it can be that Aztec subcontracted the Patkány to the the company behind that name.

Edit: I have found that there was a "Digimouse" and an "Anamouse", so it stands for "digital mouse", a Joystick-mouse like the Patkány.

Let me say only one last word about this device and then I will shut-up my mouth.....



This Spectrum version of the Digimouse is adapted by means of an interface Kempston clon( the Spectrum KC, also commercialised by Nidd valley), so it could be that on a future, a person with very few problems like me, would try to find one of these mice to connect it to the EnterMice....

I was joking, I have a lot of normal problems, like everybody...

Ok, not the last word...  Now some boring facts I have found searching the web.

It seems that Nidd Valley Micro Products Ltd. founded on 1983, still exist today under the name Nidd Valley Medical Ltd. The company changed of name on year 1995. The founder was Engineer Mr. Keith Edward Tippey, director until his resignation on 2003.  Previously he had been director and founder of a company named Kelan Engineering Ltd., now dormant under the name Kelan Circuits Ltd.

The actual business of Nidd Valley Medical Ltd. is the manufacturing and commercialisation of electro-stimulation devices oriented to pain release.

Great investigation!

I think the Enterprise version have a more IC-s because the Enterprise control port working: the direction lines are output instead input. Need a active conversion electronics like the Boxsoft joy converter.

Exactly but, according to the manual, in the BBC the pulses are interpreted by interrupts. I have to see how it is done.

The movement shafts are now entirely made of the same plastic, no degrading pulleys here.

The shafts have a slotted disk like "modern" ball-mechanical mice, but housed on a receptacle surrounding it. On that swinging receptacle there are holes where conventional LEDs and sensors are inserted.

I have seen on the interesting Russian web page found by Slashnet, the pictures are of an earlier version of the Digimouse. It has the same mechanics as the Patkány, the same potentiometers or encoders and the same degrading pulleys:

It has two chips instead of only one. Also it lacks the side locking selector that my Digimouse has.

I return to this again, now that, at last, I am the "proud owner" of one Patkàny...

I always have desired to compare it with the BBC Nidd Valley Digimouse that I already own.

Both are bulky, but they seem to have more differences than similarities.

Until I turn they down... almost the same base, but rotated 180 degrees.

So if I compare them rotated then I see what really happens.

It seems to me that the Patkàny is the early version, and they rotated the mechanism and rearranged the buttons on the Digimouse.
